Can't
get to work by car OR bus?
Idea
#1: JobRide is a van service to some companies around
Milwaukee. It costs just $1 each way.
You may
be able to get help if:
- You
live in Milwaukee County
- You
have a job lined up
- You
can’t get to your job any other way
- You’ve
lost your driver’s license or you don’t have a car
- No
buses or shuttles go to where you work
- Your
employer is also willing to pay $1 each way
How do
you apply?
- Pick
where you want to go to apply.
- Find
out the following information and take it with you.
- Your
Social Security Number
- How
many people are in your family
- How
much you were making a year before you took this job
- If
you get help from W-2 or Food Stamps
- Your
employer and where it’s located, your start date,
your starting wage, the start and quit times of your
shift, and what days of the week you’re working
For more
information, call (414) 270-1755.
JobRide is administered by the Private Industry
Council of Milwaukee County, a Workforce Development Board.
IDEA
#2: Milwaukee County Transit System has vans you can
use on your own if you get together enough people who work
where you do (or near there).
