Credits to Help Pay for School
There
are two ways you can save money on your federal income taxes
if you’re going to school:
- HOPE
Credit:
- For
the first 2 years of technical school or college
- Up
to $1,500 a year for 2 years
- Lifetime
Learning Credit:
- For
any years of technical school or college
- Up
to $2,000 a year
NOTE:
If you don’t owe any federal income taxes, you can’t use these
credits.
