How can you get the EIC added to every paycheck?

If you have kds living with you, you can get part of the EIC from your employer during the year and then get the rest at the end of the year as a tax refund!   It’s called Advance Payment.

How much?? Up to $30 a week
How to get it??

Figure out how much you think you’ll make this year. Fill this in on a Form W-5 and give it to the payroll office at work. (It really is that easy.)
Get the form

Then what?? Part of your EIC will be added to your paycheck (tax-free)

Portions of this publication are in Adobe Acrobat format.

BUT, if one of these is true, you should not use Advance Payment:

  • If you have more than one job
  • If you plan to get married during the year
  • If you think you might get a big raise later in the year

AND, if you’re married, your husband/wife should also use Advance Payment (either both of you should use Advance Payment or neither one of you should use it).

At the end of the year, file your tax returns, and you’ll get the rest of your EIC then.
